A former native of Washington, his family immigrated to the U.S. from Cape Town South Africa. Growing up with a single mom who worked two jobs he hand no financial backing when he first started his law practice. He did have a laptop, a positive attitude and the naïvete that it was going to be easy to create a successful law firm.

After the first year of taking on the most difficult cases for a low fee that barely paid his bills, he quickly realized that he needed to figure out how to improve his marketing. When he first started, he was the receptionist that answered the phones, the lawyer that prepared and filed cases, the bookkeeper that processed payments, the administrative assistant that made photo copies and the chief marketing officer that copied marketing strategies of other lawyers that were also struggling.

The journey to become a kick butt marketer began for Kaushik Ranchod after he spent one too many weekends making photocopies for his legal briefs on the weekend.

He studied marketing because it was part passion and part necessity – if he did not learn marketing fast the financial stress could have become unmanageable. By attending numerous marketing conferences from industry leaders: Joe Polish, Dan Kennedy and Brendon Burchard, purchasing business and marketing programs from the top gurus, and hiring marketing coaches he has synthesized these strategies to create kick butt marketing tools for attorneys.

Now that he is in his 14th year of practice he signs up more clients in one month than he did in his first six months of practice.

He has created a thriving law firm that doubled in size to six staff members in three years. At the same time he is able to put his family first – date night is a priority over another hour at the office; spending “quantity time” with his 4 year old takes precedence over the prospect’s demand to have a consultation at 6:00 P.M.

Kaushik now shares his knowledge with his fellow colleagues so that they do not have to undergo the same pitfalls, landmines, and struggles that he faced in his first decade of practicing law.
